The Age of Advanced Capitalism

1.
It’s a hard task, living in this world It’s a hard ask, illuminating spells I see before me sky I think before you fly Think before you swim Think before you cry There’s a task at hand, a hand that can’t hold There’s a master plan waiting to unfold There’s a one night stand, leading to a pill There’s a catcher in the rye Wanting to spill his fill There’s a junkie on the street, needing a cheap thrill It’s the company you keep That makes me need for more It’s the company you meet When you need a referral It’s the company that rides high, across the bodies of its victims It’s the company you keep It’s the company you meet It’s the company you keep It’s the company you meet
2.
I See You 03:34
I see you tell a little lie I see you make believe you’re shy Yes I see you roll your eyes and act surprised And avoid nasty situations And deploy defense in hopeless litigations I see you calculate the questions I see you evaporate suggestions I see you on a soapbox stage, with all the evidence of age I see you muster up the strength I see you preach to the forlorn While the neighbor mows his lawn I see you are not social I see you can be wise I see you in the mirror I see you your sparkling eyes I see you you’re having trouble I see you can’t decide I see you let yourself down I see you take a dive, take a dive Ahoy!
3.
Quit your day job, with the notion Of some obscure success, a shift in motion Like a falling leaf, a falling leaf upon a chivalrous emotion Or a bird that has to find his Mrs Bird a new home, a new home… Quit your day job, become a writer Become a janitor in the wee hours of the morning Take to the street with purpose and madness in equal measure If that’s your pleasure Exposed before the world, exposed before your teachers Exposed before the future Exposed when the money runs out And you can’t afford to tune yourself to vagueness in the wilderness Any longer
4.
And when you slip into a routine Following the pattern ways you’re told to go It’s just a show, the grades and examples The hoops and the samples The scaffolding hands that touch you in inappropriate places Disassociate their faces The measure is the sand in our eyes And the dusty smiles of those who would bully you for lunch money Even if they don’t have an appetite You’ve cheated - you’ve been beaten You’ve been brought to the edge of your life By the ice cuddle pick ways By the ice cuddle pick ways
5.
Hey man, what’s going on here? What’s going wrong here? Do I even belong here? Hey man, I owe you money, so much money Hey man, hey man I’m going out of my head here Listening to what you said here man I’m out of depth here, I’m out of my brain Hey man, What’s inside your wallet? What’s inside your pocket? Not much at all man I’m sick of these bumpers, I need some grass Not an easy task, hey man Money won’t last, money won’t last Money won’t last, money won’t last Hey man! I owe you money, oh yes I do I owe you money, of that it’s true I’ll pay you back sometime when I’ve found my rainbow When I’ve found my gold When I find that pot of gold, I’ll probably be too old Hey man
6.
I can’t decide tonight I can’t just hide tonight I can’t get high tonight Can’t complain about life I’ve got to be steel tonight I’ve got to be made of tough stuff I’ve got to work like a machine I’ve got to pretend I’m a robot tonight I’ve got to move those boxes Got to lift those paintings I’ve got to put them all in the van That’s the master plan So much pathos, so much energy So much ego left behind, for someone to find The first rays of the new born sun Reach the corner of a canvas Bringing it to life Giving it an audience for a fleeting moment Its time in the sun, time in the sun The relief shadows and the failure patterns Of the encroaching shadows, in the back of a truck The last load, last load
7.
Freedom 06:24
Freedom is gold Freedom is an old old song Freedom is a friend Freedom ‘till the end Freedom is a way to right wrong Freedom is a plan Freedom, put your head in the sand Freedom is like the wind It takes you away to places you don’t wish to see Freedom is a myth Freedom is a double edge sword You can bet money on it Freedom to be the same Freedom to be a different flavor Freedom, you can let the inner spirit rise I’m surrounded by the sound of wealth While all around the mental health is deteriorating Like discarded children’s toys And old furniture, free fire wood Suitcases with stickers from around this globe A siren in the night, its deepest colored clothes The colours of the night The ones you always chose The ones you always chose
8.
Social Zoo 03:38
There’s a bit of luck on your side There’s a pick up truck that will take you for a ride So if you’re stuck there might be a way out And a place to hide your benefit of the doubt Glory to the social zoo Glory to the benefit of the doubt The story ends with a twist Victims of an irascible list of disease, of disease, of disease, of disease You have to play the game if you won’t some success Nobody knows your name, unless you write it across the sky It’s better not to know, than to hold out some hope There’s a bit of luck on everybody’s side There’s a choice to make, to promote or to run and hide The story ends with a wish and a prayer You sink or swim like a fish in the open air Glory to the human zoo Glory to the whistles and the bells Ego dissolves under the scrutiny of a grin You need to grow a tougher skin To repel their laughing eyes
9.
Use By Date 04:50
When you reach the point where your usefulness ends And you know that it’s too late to get ahead Then you’re out of luck, you’re out of friends And you can’t keep up with the latest trends It’s time to decide, whose side you’re on When you pick up the phone, but you’re not feeling like talking The voices inside, they take control When you answer the phone you’re not even feeling like living You’re not even feeling like living, you’re not even feeling like living You’re not even feeling like living When they hide you away in an old age home A white and grey bacterial zone Disinfect your mouth before you speak This is not the temple that you thought you should seek It’s time to decide which way to go Abscond through the back stage door It’s time to put your feet back on the floor The wilderness is waiting for you, but the traffic won’t let you through You’ll be wondering up and down on the sidewalk of failed schemes You’ll be wondering up and down on the sidewalk of failed schemes You’ve reached your use by date Now it’s in the hands of fate
10.
Mary Bot One 03:57
So you queue for an hour At least you’re not standing in the rain And you bought the girl some flowers Just as well because you haven’t much to say It’s a first date with a new friend And her appearance is positively scary If perfection had a name it would be Mary Bot One If perfection had a name it would be Mary Bot One Why do you smile at me when I feel so sad Don’t you know we could never be, happy… So you start at a new job At least you’re not pretending anymore But the managers a hog There’s no good way to kill the time So you’re thinking about Mary And the smile she gave for free And her perfect reflection As she made herself a cup of tea If perfection had a name it would be Mary Bot One If perfection had a name it would be Mary Bot One If perfection had a name it would be Mary Bot One If perfection had a name it would be Mary Bot One If perfection had a name it would be Mary Bot One
11.
Just follow the signs - green takes you to the left And blue will follow through to the right side of the world Can I make up my mind? To the left wing is pizzicato To the right wing isn’t empathy, that’s for sure So you haven’t got a résumés that fits the description Of a person suitable for this line of work I don’t mean to be a jerk But you have tomato sauce on your shirt You don’t strike me as someone Who could handle this kind work place You are not suitable for this position Try a different poser Time to ruminate on the stress of it all
12.
Love will over come you Love will soften the blows Love will eventually consume you For the need is like a miracle cure Love over anger, Love over anger The duty of care is never forgotten The first-born aire has a price to pay The colloquial scene is full of barbed wire If you’re living the dream, you can climb higher If you’ve no one to love, you can love yourself If you’ve no one to love, you can love yourself If you’ve no one to love, you can love yourself If you’ve no one to love, you can love yourself If you’ve no one to love, you can love yourself you can love yourself, you can love yourself Listening to bird song impressions Admiring the task of an eye Accepting the awkward expressions Floating and feeling so high Acknowledgement of ones attraction to another's wistful ways The glory of love

I feel so high, I think I could fly from the top of a building! And you, you look so cool, got your best clothes on Could run a marathon, without even trying Without even trying, without even trying, without even trying, without even trying And you, you went to a good school You followed their rules, without even lying And now that its happy days, in so many ways I feel I’m entitled to a little bit more Without even trying Without even trying, without even trying, without even trying Without even trying…
15.
It will take you to a place unknown It will break you if you take too long It will shape you from head to toe It will make you want more and more It will fake you in lots of ways It will cake you in glitter and gold It will stake you right through your heart It will break you right from the start It will entice you to play a role It will enforce you if you play the game It will divorce you if you take a fall It will enforce you with a way to win It will coerce you into liking sin It will desert you through thick and thin It will reverse you if you don’t fit in It will cover you all over your skin
16.

Don’t be afraid, because this is just a test Don’t be afraid, because this is for the best Don’t be afraid or feel ashamed of your body You’re no better than the rest You’ll probably pass the test Don’t be afraid this is just a stage This is just a part of the final picture Don’t be afraid, you will feel a little sting Feel a little chill, take this little pill It will make you feel better It will make you feel better It will make you feel better It will make you feel better… So come this way, you’ll become a better person You’ll become a better husband You’ll become a better father You’ll become a better teacher You’ll become a better thinker You’ll become a better brother You’ll become a better person You’ll become a better painter You’ll become a better cleaner You’ll become a better player You’ll become a better preacher You’ll become a better poet You’ll become a better driver You’ll become a better sport You’ll become a better mate You’ll become a better man become a better person (repeat)
18.
He may feel a little sober, with the dandruff on his shoulder He may walk a little slower so that he can smell the flowers He may dodge you by the wayside To avoid a conversation He might come across as strange Maybe slightly deranged He may calculate his monies To afford his treats and fancies He may have a time of glory An anecdote worthy of a story He may want to get to know you But he doesn’t always answer his phone And he’s not the type of person you’d want to invite home In his eyes you can see an industrial daydream A complete surprise when he sees he’s being watched He always thought his disguise was to go unnoticed Blending in to the crowd despite feeling uneasy

Rebel Yell 05:34
Last night a little dancer came dancin' to my door Last night a little angel came pumping on my floor She said come on baby, I got a license for love And if it expires, pray help from above, because In the midnight hour, she cried more, more, more With a rebel yell she cried more, more, more In the midnight hour babe more, more, more With a rebel yell more, more, more More, more, more! She don't like slavery, she won't sit and beg But when I'm tired and lonely she sleeps in bed What sets you free and brought you to me, babe What sets you free, I need you here by me, because In the midnight hour, she cried more, more, more With a rebel yell she cried more, more, more In the midnight hour babe more, more, more With a rebel yell more, more, more He lives in his own heaven Collects it to go from the seven eleven Well, he's out all night to collect a fare Just as long, just as long it don't mess up his hair I walked the world for you, babe A thousand miles for you I dried your tears, of pain, babe A million times, for you I'd sell my soul, for you, babe For money to burn, for you I'd give you all, and have none, babe Just to, just to, just to, just to, to have you here by me, because In the midnight hour, she cried more, more, more With a rebel yell she cried more, more, more In the midnight hour babe, more, more, more With a rebel yell she cried more, more, more More, more, more! Ooh yeah, little baby She want more More, more, more, more, more! Ooh yeah, little angel She want more More, more, more, more, more! Songwriters: Steve Stevens, William Broad (Billy Idol)

A quiet show room With white sheets and plastic coverings Dream stakes winner Making foliage burst vividly green Growing against our nature Growing against the wall Feelings creeping up Inside this greenhouse effect Beholden to some symmetrical traffic ways And foot path dreams The night aura frames the scene Coating it with a strange unreality A perilous existence, exquisite pain The age of the insane The age of advanced capitalism Indistinguishable from shaping revolution, and war Precursor to the waist and fall Of societies that fail to evolve beyond commercial interests And change the climate to the detriment of all living things

Who Are We? 04:54
Who are we? Who are we to cut down the forests and dreams Who are we to pollute the oceans and seas? Who am I to make a judgment? Who am I to act surprised Who am I to talk to strangers Who am I to criticise Who am I to waltz Matilda Who am I to do it alone Who am I to babysit your neighbour’s Who am I to copy a clone I see space ships flying With little men and their guns I see armies crawling across the floor I see windows shaping the day dreams yet to come I see blankets flapping in the wind, flapping in the wind… Who are we?

Last Song 07:05
Hide, hide inside your mind Hide, hide inside your dreams Hide, find a place that’s kind Hide, hide away from the angry screams Grow, look and see your dreams Look around and see all the people on the street On the building, on the cross wire, on a purple bloom On a drink break, on the side walk On a purple daze under the ceiling Night time is falling, darkness will be you

about

My music and videos are not the product of a commercial production studio. But I hope they contain the nuance of authenticity. I strive to be the best I can be. My music is derived from the experiences of life. The people I meet, the places I see. The kitchen sink family saga and the multitude of drizzling influences that collect in our way. I hope I find some solace in sharing this and making a connection with a stranger, just as I have as a lover of music. To better understand life and purpose. I was enjoying listening to the brilliant Allan Vega and Suicide while recording carried on. An artist of immense importance to the world.

about

Euie b Graham Canberra, Australia

Ending formal lessons on violin, I began writing songs in 1992, graduating to a four-track cassette recorder shortly after, and the addictive journey of composing then recording was entrenched. I continue, assimilating influences and forging my own way. I shy away from performing, I write, record then move on. I would love others to listen and enjoy, and hold out hope that I May find an audience. ... more
