Inside This Frame

from LIGHTBULB PROVERBS by Euie b Graham

lyrics

When I fall apart, and the pieces don’t fit
Just a beating heart, in a body forlorn
I click my heals like Dorothy, but nothing manifests
I spread my wings like Icarus, but there’s nothing to express
This design cannot be mine, I don’t belong inside this frame
Anger words unfold, at the TV screen
Watch the ones I’m told represent us all,
The values that I hold so dear, are drowned by all the rest
So I curl up in bed and sleep instead, of finding out the worst
And the voices follow me, undermine, family name
And the choices are all the same, leaves me lost for what to say
Inside this frame I’m lesser than, the man I can be, part of the family tree

I would love others to listen and enjoy, and hold out hope that I May find an audience. ... more
