THE GAP

lyrics

My mind walks 500 miles and thirty years back
to where intelligent memories reside
I can see, I can see the path, the fittings the sheen of the tiles
Slender respite by heater
Ripples shadow passers by the glass door
I roll through photos
Stumble upon your death mask
Eyes closed, but see right through me
Your last words still needling
Come and see me
Remember your rambling voice
I still compile your Christmas book with laughable sincerity
A window, a foreign light parsimonious with detail
Within the glazed eyes
Striving to keep life, pay for things and cravings
But its illusion, mask sliding over the soul
It's an illusion changes colour by will
Remain, your presence is an intelligent memory
Infused with me as uncanny as DNA, shared past life
Intractable, incoherence

I would love others to listen and enjoy, and hold out hope that I May find an audience. ... more
